Independent Local Nursery
Specialty Tropical and Native Plants in Winter Haven
Zimmerman's Tropicals is an independent plant nursery at 1405 28th St NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881. We focus on tropical, native, and specialty plants, the kind of stock you won't always find lined up at a big-box garden center.
Whether you're looking for native plants for a low-maintenance yard, fruit trees for a Polk County backyard, or something unusual for a collection, we run a small, hands-on operation. You'll talk to the people who look after the plants, and we'll help you figure out what will actually thrive in your sun, space, and soil before you take it home.
What We Stand For
Every plant on our benches is grown in the USA, and we pick each one with the same question in mind: will this still look good in a Winter Haven yard after a summer of heat and sandy soil? Our tropical and water plants, from house foliage to aquatic stock, go through the same standards check before they reach the floor. If a plant looks tired or thin, it doesn't go out the door.
Big-box garden centers move a lot of product, but the person helping you at the register may not know a bromeliad from a bog plant. Here, the people who choose the stock are the people who answer your questions. Tell us about your shade, your pond, or the spot by the fence that never gets enough light, and we'll point you to plants that have a real chance of thriving there. Call (863) 370-6911 to check what's in stock, or stop by at 1405 28th St NW.
